#2658 weekend wrap-up

How was your Christmas weekend? Ours was quiet and pleasant. I have been off work since Thursday, well, mid-Wednesday afternoon, actually, so it has been a long, awesome weekend. I'll recap:

On Thursday, I had physical therapy in the morning. Lance, my physical therapist, told me in no uncertain terms not to do anything "stupid" with my shoulder, like reaching backward for things or trying to straighten it too much. (I *might* have mentioned that I have been experimenting a little.) He assured me that the shoulder is pretty messed up and that if I didn't follow the regimen he has me on, strengthening the muscles around the shoulder would be a wasted effort. Yikes. I've been careful with it for months now, and I will continue to be extra-thoughtful and careful for the foreseeable future.

After PT, I went to the testing facility. I'm still negative. T is still positive. He took an at-home test on Christmas day. He doesn't have a fever or coughing, but he is extremely fatigued. I bet he is awake about five to eight hours a day, if that. I worry that he is getting dehydrated, so the minute he wakes up, I am plying him with water, milk, and juice. I also make sure he is eating real food, not just snacks. If he is snacking, I think it is just string cheese, because that's what he has in the frig in his room.

Back to the recap:

On Friday, MT and I took the dogs to the dog park. The place was pretty muddy, and there was a big, deep puddle (belly high on the dogs) on one side of the park that Mac and Harley absolutely loved splashing around in. Harley is white, and she was a visible muddy mess. Mac was muddy, too, but her fur is black, so you couldn't see how dirty she was. When we got home, we had no choice but to give Harley a bath. She is a docile bather. She just stands there while you wash her with the hand-held shower. Mac, on the other hand, would not even go into the bathroom and did all manner of evasive maneuvers to avoid bathing. Instead, I used Harley's wet towel to clean Mac, then used waterless shampoo, and finished by brushing her out. Both of them were clean enough for us.

That night, I made fettuccine aglio e olio with shrimp for our Christmas Eve dinner. I have been making fettuccine for Christmas Eve for a couple of years now. My favorite Christmas movie, The Holiday, is what started it. Then, of course, I had to watch The Holiday. I turned off all the lights, except the tree, and sat there smiling the whole time. MT watched it with me. It was great.

Saturday was Christmas Day.  We actually had to wake T up to open gifts with us. We all wore masks, sat far apart from each other, and had a window open. There were no hugs or kisses for T, sadly, but I was glad he was there. He went back up to bed when the unwrapping was done. I feel bad for him. This Virus is pretty unpleasant.

I spent the afternoon doing a little cooking. I only made a couple of side dishes: cheesy potatoes and Ruth's Chris sweet potato casserole. We had Honeybaked ham, along with green salad, and dinner rolls. It was all really good, and there is plenty of leftovers, which is really nice. In fact, on Sunday (today), I haven't cooked anything. We heated up what we wanted and everyone was happy.

This morning, I slept in. Actually, I woke up early and fed the dogs, then went back to bed. Lizzie gave me a three-month subscription to Atlas Coffee Club, so this morning I made a pot of my first month's shipment. The coffee is from Ethiopia, and it is delicious! It was pure decadence to sit on my couch under the weighted blanket, sip coffee, and read a good book. In fact, today I let myself be as relaxed and lazy as I wanted to be. This afternoon, I napped on the afore-mentioned couch beneath that weighted blanket for at least hour or so. It was divine!

I didn't leave my house at all today. It has been cloudy, cold, snowy, sunny and unpleasantly cold, then cloudy and snowy again. There isn't much snow on the ground, but it is uninviting. Even Mac didn't want to spend a lot of time outside.

Back to work tomorrow, but there are only four work days this week! Friday is a holiday, as is the following Monday. What I am looking forward to is doing my yearly unravel (thanks, Susannah Conway!), reading, and watching the Utes play in the Rose Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Here are some photos for your enjoyment:

I'm glad you all had a nice Christmas. Sorry T is still positive, I imagine he has to be quarantined will it get positive? I liked the pictures of the 3 of you and Harley, Mac is missing though.
Is nice to be at home relaxing.
Careful with your shoulder, no experimenting!!! :)

Nice recap, sounds as pleasant as it could be considering the circumstances. Glad you like the coffee. How much did you get?
