I'm shaking up my writing schedule this week. Usually I write here on even days, but one the even days this week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday - I have musical events.
Last night (Monday), I volunteered at the Boy George and Culture Club concert at Red Butte Garden. I was excited to see this show, because I came of age in the '80s, after all. I must say, though, that the show was just meh for me. Boy George sounded great. I was too far away to see him (I was at the east side recycling station). The thing is that I was hoping to bust out some of my dance moves, but he kept it pretty mellow, and did some songs I didn't even know. I really liked the DJ that was playing music before Boy George came onstage. He played some excellent tunes, everything from funk to R & B to classic 80s pop. He even included "Magic" from Olivia Newton-John. My throat got tight and my eyes got hot as I sang along.
RIP Olivia.
Back to Boy George, though, here is a cool photo that City Weekly magazine posted on Facebook:

Tomorrow night, T and I are going to Vivint Arena to see and hear Kendrick Lamar.
He is an American rapper, if you don't know. We saw him about 10 years ago at Saltair, when he was first making a name for himself. I'd say he's doing pretty well. T is hyped for the show. I am glad to be going because rap concerts are fun and interesting. The best part, for me, will be spending time with T. I'm sure I'm not his ideal date, and I've offered to let him take someone else, but he has always said he is okay going with me. I wonder if he thinks I'm going to buy him some merch? LOL
Check back on Thursday when I'll write about the Kendrick Lamar show and give a preview of the show I'm going to on Friday. A hint: it's completely different than the Monday and Wednesday concerts!
