#2770 TGIF

As is typical on Friday night, I’m feeling completely tuckered out. I am so glad I recorded blooms last night after work so I could come home and chill out tonight. My big Friday night plan: pick T up from work at 9:00, come back home, take a melatonin, and go to bed. I find that when I’m feeling extra tired, the melatonin gently shoves me right into sleep land.

I’ll open my bedroom window to let in the cool night air. I’ll snuggle with my doggos and enjoy the last (or second-to-last) night of having the bed to myself. I do have about 150 pages left to read of the book club book. I may squeeze in 10 pages or so before I doze off. In the morning, I’ll wake up refreshed, make a nice pot of coffee, and read read read. I’m pretty sure I can finish it before 1:00 tomorrow afternoon.

This book isn’t really my cup o’tea. We know who the bad guy is, and we know who the good guy is, so all that’s left is to figure out exactly how the bad guy will be brought to justice. It’s well written and interesting enough, but I just can’t get into it. I’m glad it’s just a two week read.

My plans for the weekend include trading out my seasonal clothes. I’m bored with my summer clothes and am ready to make the change. It’s still going to be warm in the afternoons, so I won’t put away all the t-shirts. Plus, some of them might get to go to Greece with me.

Speaking of Greece, or more specifically, Germany, there is a wee glitch with the hotel in Munich. The room we booked has one king size bed. I requested a room with two double beds, but that hotel doesn’t have such a room. Now Lizzie and I are figuring out if we our options there. More to come on that situation.

Here are a few photos I took at Red Butte yesterday. I didn’t walk around the whole garden last night, just the Children’s Garden. When I got done around 6:30, it was a little chilly and I was ready to come home. It is looking very autumnal up there!

I call this area “Crabapple Cove”.  I like the way the light is hitting the crabapple trees. You can see the bright red crabapples there. The pink/purple flowers are anemones. They are blooming profusely. They love the shade in that area.

This bloom is from the Obedient plant. That’s really it’s name! I like the pretty color and the interesting shape of the flower. The pollinators really like it, too.

These bright red berries are on the big hawthorn trees in the Four Seasons Garden. The birds love to feast on these berries. I love the pop of color. The hawthorn trees are awesome all year long. They have beautiful blooms in the spring and provide lovely shade and refuge for the birds, squirrels and bunnies in the summer.

The tree below is one of my favorites. It is in the Medicinal Garden, and it is a relative of a sycamore tree, I think. It is enormous and shades that whole garden. In this photo, I like the way the setting sun peaks through its leafy branches.

Here is a view of the Four Seasons Garden. The hawthorn tree is over on the left there, you can see the red berries. To the right of the hawthorn are some pink flowers; those are a type of agastache. The bees and hummingbirds love that flower. I have spent many Sunday hours watching the hummingbirds in the agastache. Last Sunday, that patch of flowers was buzzing with bees. In the distance, you can see a tree that is fully showing off it’s fall colors. That hill in the background is Red Butte Peak.

All right…it’s time to go get T, which puts me that much closer to bedtime! Enjoy the weekend!
