#2775 three things: magic pants, live music, and mind travel

 1. These pants sell themselves. Today I wore my magic pants to work. My friendly co-worker, Wendy, asked me about the pants, so I described their magic by telling her about wearing them on vacation in April and how delighted I was with the fit, the stretch, and the look. I told her the pants were so great they would be going to Greece with me. She asked where I got them, so I sent her the info from Amazon, and you know what? She purchased a pair right then and there. I hope she is as happy with the magic pants as I am!

2. Keeping my vibe right. I wrote recently about a podcast I listen to called Vibe Check. One thing they do at the end of every show is talk about what is keeping their vibe right this week. It’s usually something they have read, watched, or listened to. I like this concept, so I want to tell you what’s keeping my vibe right this week.

On Tuesday, MT and I saw Gary Clark Jr. in concert. (That’s why I didn’t write on Tuesday.) We went to a new venue called Union Event Center. It’s a big empty space, with limited seats. We stood up the whole time, which was a little rough, but did make it easier to dance. We were close to the stage - the closest we’ve ever been to Gary!

We really like his music, which I would describe as bluesy rock. He has a fabulous falsetto and is a guitar god. He played for two solid hours and we loved every minute.

An added bonus was that he had a very good opening act, a man called Abraham Alexander. He was already singing and playing guitar when we got there. He sounded great and I was enchanted with him. He did a cover of that Chris Isaak song “Wicked Game” that blew me away. So good!

The coolest thing was that Gary brought Abraham out on stage during his set and to perform the song “Stay.” You could tell that Abraham was totally digging it - he had such a beautiful smile on his face as he was jamming with Gary Clark Jr. I saw later on Instagram that Abraham posted that he got to play on stage that night with the man who made him want to play guitar.

By the way, the song, “Stay” is very nice. Here’s the lyric video with guitar by Gary Clark Jr.

Check out the official video here, if you want.

The music these men make are definitely keeping my vibe right this week!

3. Daydream. Work has been demanding this week. I’ve worked well over eight hours every day. I knew it would be like this, because the week of close is always like this. I was tired yesterday because I’d worked three long days and just had two short nights, so my mind drifted away for a few minutes while I was in between tasks. My mind wandered to a very specific place and when I found myself there, in my mind, it made me smile with real pleasure.

My mind took me back to Rome to the Piazza del Popolo. We found the square the first day we were in Rome while we were wandering around waiting to check into our hotel. It is a large plaza with several fountains and churches, and an obelisk in the center.

One of the churches has a painting by Caravaggio in it, but we were unable to get into the church while we were there. We wanted to go back to see the painting, but we didn’t make it back. The “Caravaggio Quest” is on the list of things we would do if/when we get back to the Eternal City.

Thanks, mind, for taking me back to Rome for a few minutes this week!
