This morning T asked if I wanted to see the movie Sinners.
I said, "No."
He said, "But it has Michael B. Jordan! Don't you have a crush on him?"
I said, "Not really. He's a little too jowly for me."
He said, "That's what makes him have a great smile."
I said, "His dimples and his teeth are what make him have a great smile."
I paused for a second, thinking that T doesn't really ask me for much or to do stuff with him, so I changed my mind and said that I would go to the movie, but he had to buy me some popcorn. He agreed, and we figured out where and what time, and I bought the tickets.
Fast forward to this afternoon at 4pm, sitting in a big theater with an IMAX screen watching this story unfold. It was a good movie. The music was wonderful, and there are two scenes that stand out for me. One was where Sammy sings for the first time at the juke joint, and people are dancing, then dancers and musicians from the past and future come in. I'm not describing it well at all. It is a feast for the ears and the eyes. T and I both wondered if it was a single take, and it kind of was, and it was also a live performance. Fantastic. The other scene is when the vampires have their musical moment. Again, it sounds weird, but it was freaking cool.
There is just something about seeing a movie in a theater on a big screen, or in this case, a ginormous screen, that is just terrific. I'm glad I went to see this movie.
