No, Matt Holliday didn't touch the plate. Yes, the Padres brought the heartache upon themselves. I'm still unhappy with the outcome of the game. I mostly like the Rockies unless they are playing the Padres. The Rockies played good baseball the last couple weeks of September to stay in the Wild Card race while the Pads struggled. I'll get over it. I just wish that "my" team would make it one year and win the whole thing. The last time that happened was 1995, when the Braves won the World Series. I'd been rooting for them for a few years, and it finally happened and it was so cool. No, I'm not from Atlanta; I've never even been there. But the Braves were America's team, most games easily accessible on the SuperStation WTBS. I watched when they lost to Minnesota in 1991 and began to follow team. Anyway, my sister lives in San Diego and I'd travel there to see the Braves play the Padres, and I started to really like the Padres. I watch the Rockies a lot because they are our "regional" team, but I was definitely rooting for the Pads on Monday night.
So the games are set. In the American League, I'll cheer for any team but the Yankees. Yes, I'm a hater. My son only refers to them as "The Team That Must Not Be Named." Go Tribe! I like both the Angels and the Red Sox. In the NL, all the teams are ok. I'm not a big D-Backs fan; I don't know any of their players except Brandon Webb I've heard of. I'm just watching for fun because there is no emotional involvement with these teams. I'll probably root for the NL team in the World Series, because that's how I roll! A Chicago Cubs vs Cleveland Indians WS would be kinda fun since a championship has been a long time coming for both teams.
I went to the gym last night for the first time in a couple of weeks. It felt good to exercise and get sweaty. I decided not to go tonight. Instead I finished the book "Strawberry Fields" and had a little dinner and relaxed. Nice evening. The book was pretty entertaining. It was about immigrant field workers in England. The cover said it had a "Canterbury Tales" feel to it, but since it's been so long since I read that book, I really couldn't say. I did enjoy "Strawberry Fields." The characters were interesting. I especially liked Dog. The next book I'll read is by Jodi Picoult and it's called "Keeping Faith." It will be my first Picoult book.
