first snow

Ahhh or ewwww, depending on how you think about it. The first snow of the season. When it starts to come down during my commute, it's definitely ewww. It was kind of exciting to see the first flakes, but as it got colder and it started coming down heavier, it was less exciting. To me anyway.

Tonight for dinner I cooked fillets of sole in butter and lemon, then topped them with some pine nuts that I heated in a little butter and lemon juice. Yummy and easy.

I'm reading a couple of books at the same time. One is called Twilight, written by Stephenie Meyer. Many people I know have read the book, including my best friend LA. She was so enchanted by it that she "checked out of life" for a day and read it in one sitting. When she declared her love for Edward, the main character, I admit that I smirked a little. That was before I met Edward, now I love him too. Everyone I know who has read the book loves Edward. It's one of those books where you just want to keep reading so you can find out more about these people. Those kinds of books are the best! Fortunately, there are 2 other books in the series so I can keep up with my need for Edward. The author went to school at BYU, and a friend of mine told me today that the 3rd book in the series sold more copies here in Utah than the 7th Harry Potter book. Crazy. I hadn't heard about these books until LA told me about them in the summer. I guess I'm a little slow on the uptake with this one, but I'm there now!

The other book I'm reading is Shopaholic Ties the Knot by Sophie Kinsella. When I need a break from Edward and Bella, I read about Becky Bloomwood. Entertaining stuff. Mindless and fun and good for the soul. I read The Kite Runner earlier this month and I needed some frivolity after that. Not to take anything from The Kite Runner. It's one of the best books I've read this year. It too kept me turning the pages, even though sometimes I really didn't want to. It was heart-wrenching.

Reading is good.
