#116 this week, rentals and Sea World

My mind seems to be a little empty lately. Actually, it's not. It's full of work thoughts, which I don't want to write about here. Hopefully when I take care of those thoughts tomorrow, my mind will be free to feast on other stuff that I like to write about.

In the meantime, I'm hoping and cheering for a Jazz win on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing my T and my Dad on Thursday evening. I'm hoping and cheering for a Jazz win on Friday, too. I'm not sure what the weekend will bring, but the weather channel says possibly higher temperatures, so I should go hit some golf balls on Saturday or Sunday. Or both.

MT is considering buying another rental from some guy who has a house available down the street from the rentals we currently have. The seller has like 22 other rentals and doesn't have the time to put into the one he offered to sell MT. I'm not gonna lie to ya...my stomach hurts a bit at the thought, We'll have to look at it and see, I guess. Can we even get the money for another house? Will having a third rental calm the real estate buying beast within?

Let me tell you a little tale about the rental that we have. We actually have three units, one of which is unoccupied. The last tenant was kind of sloppy and maybe a little yucky. She left the place in a horrible state. MT basically had to gut the place and is in the process of putting it back together. He's got the walls done and is working on the windows. The windows are in terrible shape. We'd like to replace them, but we don't really have the money to do that right now, so we are repairing them and replacing the glass. Anyway, MT asked me if I would be willing to work on getting the windows cleaned up for repair. That would include scraping away decades of paint on the window panes and sanding and painting the new frames that he is building. I went over to look at the windows to see what the work would be like. So he's showing me what I would need to do and as he is pointing to the window he says, "God! Look at that! There are mouse turds on the window pane. That's so disgusting! That woman had a lot of crap in here. How did those little rodents get all the way up here? Anyway, you would scrape here where these turds are..."

So if I get the hanta virus, you'll know how it happened.

To take my mind off that, here's a picture from Sea World:

Wouldn't that be a cool job? Of course, you have to be able to swim, and not mind touching slimy, cold fish or putting your hand holding that slimy, cold fish right by the giant mouth of a killer whale, but other than that, it's probably really great. I wonder how many times that guy has got knocked around by that orca? You know, they're training for some trick and Shamu doesn't want to do it and flips his gigantic whale tail at the trainer and the trainer gets knocked around a little? I bet it happens. They don't tell you that kind of stuff at the show.

Sea World is fun and we (T & I) had a great afternoon there a few weeks ago with Tia Mia, Lizzie & Han.
