#416 mini movie review

MT and I went to see "Eat Pray Love" tonight. You know how much I was looking forward to seeing this film. I've read the book twice and I LOVE Julia Roberts. I REALLY wanted to love this movie. I wanted to want to see it over and over and buy it the day it came out on video. But I'm sorry to say that I did not love the movie. Bummer.

The story sort of matched the book, but there was some extra stuff that got thrown in that I didn't think was necessary. Like, why was that elephant thrown in? We didn't need an elephant. Just because she's in India doesn't mean we have to have an elephant.

In the book, I felt that Liz came into happiness through her year of travel, but I didn't feel the same happiness in the movie Liz. I just wasn't feeling it.

I did like Javier Bardem quite a lot. He's scruffy and sort of wonderful. My favorite scene in the movie that he's in also wasn't in the book, though (the scene with his son).

One thing that did match the book...after reading the book and seeing the movie, I'd love to go to Italy, I don't really have any desire to go to India and Bali looks like an interesting place, but I'm not sure I'd like to go there.
