My usual Sunday bike ride absolutely kicked my ass today. I rode to Farmington and back in one hour and 54 minutes. I don't know why, but I was just really slow today. It took me 62 minutes to get to Farmington. I've been doing it in about 45 minutes. I had no jam in me today. And it wasn't hot or especially windy. It was breezy, but not windy. I could barely motivate myself to get there. I wanted to turn around the whole way. I talked myself along:
Get to the short tunnel.
Get to the landfill.
Get to the long tunnel.
Get to the road.
Get to the turn.
Get to where the cows with long horns are.
Get to the soccer field.
Get to the Glover Lane trailhead.
There's Farmington station!
Wow. One hour and two minutes to Farmington. Not set any speed records there. I considered calling MT to pick me up at Farmington, because now I had to ride the 12 miles back to North Salt Lake. I just told myself I had to do it a little faster than 62 minutes.
I made it back in 52 minutes and I even stopped in the short tunnel for a few minutes to add songs to my playlist since I only had two left to hear.
So even though it wasn't a great ride (and did I mention that my bum hurts? I was even wearing my gel shorts!) at least I got out there and did it, right?
I was very disappointed at my WW weigh-in yesterday. I gained 1.2 lbs. GRRR. I was good at eating and I worked out hard and I gained. It just sucks. I'm not going to give up, but I feel blue.
This week my goal is to focus on my Non-Scale Victories (NSV) each day. For example, yesterday in yoga, I did a bind for the very first time. I don't know if I can describe a bind, but I'll try. Basically, a bind is an advanced yoga pose where you reach around your back with one hand and between your legs with the other hand and you clasp your hands together while all stretched out in whatever yoga pose you are doing. I think I was in a triangle pose. I've never been able to bind before, so I was psyched about it. I hope I'll be able to do it again sometime.
Today's NSV is, obviously, my bike ride. I give myself props for working through it and getting it done in spite of myself. I really had to push myself to do it this week. I do love to ride my bike, but today I wasn't really feeling it and I did it anyway.
On another completely random note, September is the greatest weather month in Utah. The weather this weekend has been beautiful. The temperature has been in the upper 70s to low 80s, with bright blue skies. Gorgeous. When I was out and about yesterday I was thinking about how nice it was and what would be the perfect thing to do. Go to the Utah football game? Yes, great football weather. Ride my bike? Sure, it would be nice, I'll do that on Sunday. I actually watched the Utah game from my chair at home. I gave blood yesterday and it always tires me out. I had to nap. But what the weather was really perfect for was playing golf. Too bad my clubs are still in the basement. I haven't hit a golf ball all year. I admit that on my way back from the bike ride this afternoon, I thought that I should have hit golf balls instead!
Ok, that's all I've got. Hope you all had a great weekend!
Peace out!
