Today I went out to lunch with some people from work: Matt, Jeremy, Brian and Kelsie. Our server was an energetic and handsome guy who appeared to be solicitous and friendly.
I ordered a half Caesar salad with chicken and onion straws. Kelsie also ordered a salad, but requested that her onion straws be given to me. (A joke between us from a previous visit to the same restaurant.)
The guy brings out the salads and Kelsie's is loaded with onion straws and the guy says, "Sorry about that. You can just push those onion straws onto your mom's salad." Did I hear him say that? I looked at him and I looked at Kelsie. The men-folk at the table were just staring with their mouths open.
I said, "Well, I think I'll just go kill myself now and you won't be getting a tip. Thank you." He was dead to me from that moment on, but I think he might have actually said, "She's not your mom?"
The waiter put down the rest of the food and quickly left. I couldn't look at him the rest of the meal. Little punk-ass!
Yes, technically, Kelsie could be my daughter if I'd given birth at 16. But she's not and I didn't and I just felt so damn old when he said that. I didn't think I was sensitive about my age or about getting older or even looking older, but dang! It has obviously bothered me all day long. I've tried to laugh if off, but I can't shake it.
Oh! And did I mention that Kelsie is pregnant? That would make me a GRANDMA!! Stupid waiter!!!
Somebody PLEASE say something to cheer me up!

You look great, especially after your weight loss, and you dress nicely and young! That waiter was a jerk and near sighted too. If I had been there I would have given him whoopins, hmpff!
You look great!!! From the photo I saw the other day I would have guessed you were in your mid 30's and not a day older.
Don't let that stupid waiter let you down. You are beautiful and he was rude. Wrong person for that job I think.
