#1006 bulk cooking day

I have been busy today. Remember I told you I went to Costco yesterday? I bought about seven pounds of ground beef there. Usually I just divide it up into one pound packages and put it in the freezer, but I decided to do something different this time.

I made a giant pot of meaty spaghetti sauce (I also bought a couple of giant jars of Prego spaghetti sauce at Costco that I gussy up to make it extra yummy). I used a couple of pounds of meat for that. We had spaghetti for dinner and I still had enough to fill four quart size freezer bags.

I used a couple more pounds of ground beef to make taco meat. I got two quart size bags of that. Then I used the rest of the meat to make hamburger patties.

The freezer bags aren't all the way full, but there is plenty for our family. That's seven meals I have stashed in the freezer and there will certainly be leftovers from each of those meals also.

I won't lie...it was a lot of work. There was a lot of chopping and prepping and standing over the stove to get everything mixed together. I think it will be worth it, though. We have tacos or spaghetti pretty frequently, and it will be great to have the meat or the sauce already cooked. There are some nights when I get home kind of late and if dinner is easy, it's better.

Gotta go now. It's time for "Talking Bad" on AMC, the "Breaking Bad" after-show. I'm hooked! Good thing there are only three episodes left!
