#1141 summer vacation destination

HOORAY! We have decided where we are going for vacation this summer and I am so excited! We are going to Isla Mujeres, Mexico.  It is a little island off the Mexican coast near Cancun.

MT knew a lady who had spent a week on Isla Mujeres and she had a great time. MT has been talking about the going there for several years and this is the year we will make the trip.

We will be spending a week at the Nautibeach condos. I think it will be similar to the resort condos where we stayed in Belize. (Hopefully; we loved Pelican Reef!) We have a two bedroom condo. The pool looks gorgeous and the beach looks spectacular. Nautibeach is right on Playa del Norte which was recently named one of the best beaches in the world by Trip Advisor.

One of the things we want to do there is see the whale sharks. Whale sharks are the biggest fish in the sea. Apparently they migrate near Isla Mujeres every summer and people can actually go out to swim with the creatures. That is certainly something I would NOT do, but I wouldn't mind going out in the boat and seeing the whale sharks. MT is ecstatic about the idea of swimming or snorkeling around the whale sharks. Doesn't that excursion sound like an awesome birthday gift for him?

The three of us are pretty delighted at the thought of spending a week on the beach. Yes, it will be hot there when we go, but it's hot here in the summer, too. There, I will be able to sit by the pool with a lovely cold beer. They frown on that kind of activity at the local pool here. ;)
