#1190 first day of vacation = awesome!

Today was the first day of my mini-vacation at home. Yesterday I wrote a long list of possible activities that I could do, and I did some of them!

• I put some music on, played it really loud and danced and sang my little heart out. I was in the mood for some old Police music (OY. All Police music is old now.) I played at least one song from each album, dancing and singing and playing air bass or air guitar. Very satisfying. I threw a couple of Fleetwood Mac songs in for good measure. Love Lindsay Buckingham!

• I cooked a new dish. I've been wanting to make this particular soup for a couple of weeks and I had all the ingredients and even though it was 90 degrees outside, I felt like having some nice soup. I made this creamy tomato tortellini soup. Instead of adding milk and cream to the soup, I just bought a box of creamy tomato soup. I also didn't use the sun-dried tomatoes; I used the sun-dried tomato paste with basil. Overall, my recipe was slightly different from the one on the link, but it was dang tasty. Even T liked it! I'll be having soup for lunch this week. Yum!

• I hit golf balls for the first time in a couple of years. I had my knee replacement in August 2012 and I know I wasn't out hitting golf balls much before the surgery. It hurt too much. Last year I didn't hit golf balls because I was a little nervous about it. I shouldn't have been. When I got to the golf course, I realized how much I had missed playing golf. I was pleasantly surprised that I hit pretty well today - long and mostly straight, even though it was quite windy. After I hit a small bucket of balls, I was ready to putt, but my putter was not in my golf bag. I was a little freaked out by that, but I found it back at the house. It was in the other golf bag. I don't know why. I would like to go back out tomorrow and have a little more time on the range and on the putting green. My plan is to play a par-3 round in a week or so maybe. It was awesome to be back out there

•  Osi has an appointment at the groomer's tomorrow. I think we'll go for a short walk before the appointment. But that's tomorrow. :)

 I also sat outside and read. I didn't drink a beer out there, but I did have a beer later, with dinner. I cleaned up the kitchen and did a load of laundry too.

When I was driving to the golf course, I went past the DMV and realized that my driver's license expires next week. I made an appointment to get it renewed on Tuesday. I would have liked to do it this week, but they didn't have any appointments available on Thursday or Friday, and even though I could sit over there and wait my turn, why would I want to waste my precious vacation time doing that? I'll take care of it at lunchtime on Tuesday. 

It has been a lovely day. I can't wait to have another lovely day tomorrow!
