#1218 watching the Jazz!

It's smack-dab in the middle of summer, a few months away from the start of the NBA season, but tonight T and I got a little taste of Jazz basketball when we went to the open scrimmage at the ESA.

It wasn't the regular full team (we don't exactly know who will make the roster yet), but we got to see the two first round draft picks, Dante Exum and Rodney Hood as well as returning second year players Trey Burke, Rudy Gobert, Ian Clark and Malcom Thomas. There were a whole bunch of other guys too that will be playing for the team in the summer league in Las Vegas, hoping to make the team. Plus, the team has a new coach this year, Quin Snyder, so it was a chance to hear him talk. He didn't coach, he was just watching with the rest of us.

There were thousands of people there, probably between 7,000 and 8,000. That's a lot for a practice! The team has only been practicing for a couple of days, so it wasn't beautiful, smooth NBA basketball, but it was fun to watch them play.

I think both Hood and Exum were a bit surprised when they walked out on the court and saw so many fans. The lower bowl was nearly full! Even the coach commented that he had never seen so many people come out for such an early practice scrimmage.

T and I both thought Rodney Hood was very good. Exum seems quick and can handle the ball, but his shot needs work. Ian Clark played well, also, and so did Gobert.

It will be fun to see how the team does this winter. I'm not getting my hopes and expectations up, but I hope they are fun to watch and it would be awesome to win more than 20 games this season!

I have high hope's for the Jazz. If they cab make the playoffs, that will be a big turn around. Faith and fan support will help.
