We woke T up so he could come with us. I've been talking about getting him a new bed for a long time. His bed is MT's childhood bed, but T is already at least as tall as MT is and his feet hang off the end of the mattress. T. although he usually doesn't wake up well, was ready to go in about ten minutes flat.
We headed out to the new RC Willey store in Draper. It as packed. RC Willey was having a big Labor Day sale and there were people everywhere. We don't have any of the stuff yet - it will be delivered soon. Here's what we got:
TV (65" - holy crap! So excited!!)
leather couch
recliner chair
coffee table
end table
floor lamp
We're going to have the TV mounted on the wall, so we'll need to get something to hold the electronics. We didn't see anything that "spoke" to us. I think we were getting tired! We'll need a couple of table lamps too, but again, we couldn't find anything.
T really really wanted to get a leather chair, but I wanted an upholstered recliner instead.
After the RC Willey fun-fest, we went across the street to IKEA. There were thousands in people in there. It was crazy. IKEA was fun until it wasn't fun anymore. It's such a huge store and you kind of have to follow the path to get through the place. All I wanted to do was get to the bed section. It took awhile. Then T had to lie down on every bed and also sit up on it like he was watching TV until he found the one he wanted. Then he had to lie down on all of the mattresses too. We did end up with a new bed and mattress for him there. We looked for a TV electronics table, but we were all pretty much done with furniture shopping by then. We paid for the bed, bought some cinnamon buns and chocolate and came on home.
There was no putting together of the IKEA furniture today. The boys decided they were too tired to try to figure out how to assemble the bed. It's ok with me. I'm going to have to go buy sheets and a blanket because the new bed is full size; he was in a twin.
The whole shopping spree was so impulsive and crazy fun. I'm waiting for buyer's remorse to set in. So far I still feel ok about everything. I'm super-excited for the new furniture to get here. I'll be watching NFL football on Sunday on my new big-ass TV. WOO-HOO!!
What a great way to start the month :)
