It's Thursday night and I'm sitting in my nearly empty living room watching the Royals/Angels game on my lovely TV. The living room is nearly empty of furniture. MT took out our old furniture (we gave it to our tenants) in preparation for the new furniture being delivered on Saturday. Our old couch was huge. The room seems really big without it. We brought in a rocking chair and the other chair from the front room so we would have something to sit on tonight and tomorrow. I mostly sat on the floor though so I could snuggle with Osi for awhile. I think she feels a bit displaced because there's no place for her to lay except the floor. That's no fun.
I've decided that from here on to eternity, I will think of the month of October as "Sportstober". October is simply the greatest sports month of the year. Every major team sport is being played during this fabulous month. We've got the Major League Baseball playoffs happening. The National Football League is in full swing. The National Hockey League season starts this month and so does the National Basketball Association. In fact, my beloved Utah Jazz will have their first preseason game on Tuesday. And to make Sportstober extra-fantastic, there's also college football to watch! Glorious sports!!
It will be hard, but I will try to write about topics other than sports this month. Or maybe not. I think that there will be at least some mention of sports in every post, but I will try to mix it up with events from my fascinating life.
One other thing that is fun about this month is that finally some good movies are coming out. It's been a pretty boring summer for movies and I haven't seen a movie at the theater since 100 Foot Journey. I think that from now until the end of the year there is at least one movie coming out each weekend that I want to see. We're going to start our family movie nights tomorrow with Gone Girl. T is really excited to see it because a) it's a David Fincher movie and T says all David Fincher movies are events and b) T hasn't read the book so he doesn't know how f'd up the characters are. I have mixed feelings about the movie because I did read the book and I do know how f'd up the characters are. I wonder if Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike will adequately portray the hot mess that this couple is. I'll let you know.
