#1273 #postseason

I just finished watching the Oakland A's vs Kansas City Royals play-in game. It was great! I thought for sure the game was over when Oakland was up 7-3, but KC stayed in there and kept it interesting, eventually tying the game and sending it to extra innings. Free baseball!

It was hard not to get caught up in the excitement at the stadium, even through the TV. The last time the Royals were in the postseason was when they won the World Series back in 1985. That's a long drought between postseason appearances and you could tell the town and team were excited to be back playing in (almost) October.

It seemed like the fans all hung in there, because there were just as many people there at the end to see the home team win in the bottom of the 12th as there were to watch the first pitch nearly five hours earlier.

Even though I was hoping the A's would win, I'm glad for the Royals. It was cool to watch them celebrate the victory on their home field. Next up for KC, the Los Angeles Angels. Should be a good series.

And tomorrow, the San Francisco Giants at the Pittsburgh Pirates.
