#1291 my space bags don't look like that

When I left you last night, I was heading to my room to take out my sweaters and put away my capris and skorts and short-sleeve tops. I have a large wooden box that used to be T's toy box that I use to store my off-season clothes. The thing is that especially with sweaters, because of their bulk, the box gets so full it nearly doesn't close all the way. That's annoying.

While I was wandering around Target the other day, I saw some Ziploc space bags. Have you ever seen those? The box looks like this:

I decided to buy a package because I thought it would be good to put my clothes in these bags and it would be easier to store them. See how nice and flat the clothes get when you put them in the storage bag? You use the vacuum cleaner to suck all the air out of the bag and your clothes get all smushed down and it's easy to store. Genius!

So I took all my summer clothes out of the closet and folded them neatly and put them in piles on my bed. There were about six piles of things that I wanted to store.

The pic is kind of dark, but you get the idea. There was a lot of stuff to stash away in the toy box. I got out my large space bags and started putting the clothes in them. I used two bags. I tried to put the clothes in nicely so when I sucked the air out of the bag with my vacuum cleaner the bags would be flat and perfect. It probably takes a little more patience to put the clothes in there nicely so they suck flat. Here's my end result:

I got everything in the six piles into two lumpy, heavy space bags. They do fit in the toy box, but not beautifully, like I imagined they would be. I bet those clothes will be all wrinkled to hell when I pull them out in the late spring! heehee

Maybe I'm just easily amused, but it is super-fun to watch the vacuum suck all the air out of the bag and watch it get all airless.

I have used these types of bags before to store blankets and they do work well and it must be possible to get your clothes/blankets/whatever in there flat so it sucks down flat. Like I said, I don't seem to have the patience for that.

I was glad that I got out my sweaters though because it was pretty cold this morning - around 37 degrees. I did wear a sweater and a scarf and I was happy and warm. :)

That's all I've got for tonight. I'm going to watch a little Jazz basketball, fold some laundry and get ready for bed.

Good night!
