#1349 family movie night: American Sniper

Just...holy shit.

I don't even know if I have the words to write about this movie. It is incredibly intense and very violent. I spent most of the movie with my shoulders bunched up around my ears and my hands in front of my mouth. I've always had respect for the soldiers that serve in Iraq; I don't know for sure but it seems like this movie was pretty accurate representation of the horror of that war.

Bradley Cooper was very, very good. It took me a little time to get used to seeing him so much bigger than he usually is in movies. He was beefy. I didn't recognize Sienna Miller at all, even though I knew it was her.

Clint Eastwood directed the film and as usual, it was very well done. The end is just a total gut-wrenching few minutes. The use of complete silence during the credits was powerful.

I totally understand why this movie was nominated for Best Picture and why Bradley Cooper got a Best Actor nod.

Just...damn.
