#1401 a green flash

I'm slightly obsessed with seeing a "green flash". Do you know what that is? It happens at sunset on the ocean. The sun is sinking sinking into the water and sometimes a green flash will appear as the sun dips behind the horizon.

Since I came to know about the green flash several years ago, I have looked for it in every ocean sunset. I've never seen it though. Maybe. Here's the thing: I thought the green flash would be like this flash of bright green light across the horizon of the ocean as the sun sank. I've never seen that for sure in real life, but I think I've seen it in a movie.

One day I decided to Google the green flash, and it wasn't what I expected but it's still cool as hell and I really want to see it in real life! The green flash is more like a little poof of green on top of the sun as it sinks. Here's a couple of photos I saw online:

In the Hawaii book I bought a few weeks ago, it says that one of the beaches near where we are staying is a good spot to see the green flash. I told MT about it and he said we would definitely go to the beach at sunset a few times to try to see it! I will bring my phone and take a video of every sunset, hoping to capture the moment.

Now that I know what to look for, I think I'll look back at all my sunset photos (I have a jillion) to see if I'm missing something, since I didn't really know what I was looking for before. I'll let you know if I find anything!

I finished this book today! Please check out the 2015 Reading List page.
