#1421 the fitting

I should not read other people's blogs before I write my posts. I feel like I'm pretty dull when I read about my sister's day-trip to Julian and my aunt's gatherings with her family and with the various groups she works with and the places they gather to do the work.

Oh well. I guess we all have times when we are interesting. This post isn't really about an interesting time, but it is about something I've never done before.

Usually when I go out for lunch during the work week, I head north to the town of Bountiful. There are lots of nice restaurants there that are quick with the food. On the road near the restaurants is a shop called Lace by Louise. It's a bra store. I've never been in there, but I have always thought it would be a good idea to be fitted properly for a bra. My friends Kelsie and Nicole have both been there and have encourage me to go there, too. So on Saturday, that is exactly what I did.

I'm in my late 40s and I have to tell you, I feel a little silly admitting that I didn't really know what size bra to wear. I have several bras and I could have sworn they were all different sizes because they felt different, but when I checked them out, they were all the same size. Come to find out, they were also the wrong size.

When I got to the shop, a nice older lady named Patsy greeted me and took me into a nice big dressing room. I admit that I was a little nervous and giggly and felt slightly sweaty. Patsy was awesome. She measured me and was calm and sweet. She asked what I liked in my undergarment and went to pick out a few from their large collection. I told her I didn't want underwire. I've never had an underwire bra that was comfortable and fit well to which Patsy said, "That's probably because you were wearing the wrong size, dear."

Of course she brought in an underwire bra, so I tried it on. Oh. My. Gosh. The girls have never looked so good! There were two distinct boobs under my shirt instead of the uniboob I've been sporting for years. The girls were also up where they belong, not pointing down. Needless to say, that underwire bra came home with me :) I bought another bra too, not underwire, but it still does a nice job.

I'd read online that a well-fitting bra is supposed to lay flat against your body in between the girls. I have never, ever had that happen in my life. I didn't think it was possible. But it is! You have to have the right size bra. Underwire helps too.

I just thought about my dad reading this post. It's probably waaaaaaaaaaaaay more info than he needs about his daughter, but if my experience at the bra store can help another lady, then sorry Dad. It just has to be said.

The bras I purchased on Saturday were by far the most expensive bras I have ever bought, but they are very nice and undoubtedly worth the money. This is going to sound weird, but I'm looking forward to seeing how my clothes fit now that I have the proper undergarments. In the movie that I saw last week, The DUFF, the boy told the girl something like, "You're clothes don't fit on you right because you have a uniboob and the wrong size bra."

The DUFF is full of true words. You need to see it. Or read the book. But see the movie, too, because it's pretty adorable.

Anyway, that's my story about the bra fitting. If you have never had a fitting, GO DO IT! You will be glad you did.

I had the same experience at Lane Bryant in Brea mall a couple of years ago. What a difference a good bra makes. I still have them and last year I bought 3 more since we don't have Lane Bryant in Sweden :-)
Good for you to find good bras.
Hugs and kisses to you all
Aunt Mia :-)
Love you!
