#1433 the fixer upper

It's time to see the progress that MT has made on the fixer upper this week.

MT pretty much works on stuff as he wants to work on it. He does not say, "Now I am going to work on the back bedroom until it is done." Since there is so much work to do in every room, it seems like he picks something he feels like doing and works on that project.

This week, we was doing a little "mud work". He put some texture on the ceiling in the kitchen.

He some taping and texturing in the dining room and laundry area.

We were fortunate to have our plumber Brandon come in and start to work on the duct work for the heater this week. Now MT can build the floors in the bedrooms.

I might have mentioned last week that the original house was pretty small and was added on to by previous owners on both ends of the house. Although the house is one one level and it's a rambler, there were elevation changes on both ends of the house. You had to step up on the east end of the house to go from the room that will be the dining room to get into the kitchen. On the west end of the house, you had to step down two big or three normal steps to get to the four rooms that were added.  If you click on the photo above, you can see that there was a good 12 - 18 inches from the existing floor to the floor that MT build. Consequently, the windows and the doors seem kind of weird because the windows are close to the floor and the doors look like the belong to hobbits.

To give you some idea of how short the door is with the new floor, I'm about 5 feet 5 inches and a totally bashed the top of my head into the top of the door jam when I stood up in the door way to take a photo. I then bashed my head two more times on two other similar doorways. I'm a slow learner, I guess.

For a better perspective, here's MT in the doorway:

Last week the floor into the extension of the living room looked like this:

Here's what it looks like this week:

Making progress!

Before I sign off tonight, I just wanted to say "Happy Mother's Day" to all the mamas out there who may be reading. Being T's mom is my most favorite thing. It brings me gigantic amounts of joy and yes, sometimes a bit of pain, too. T gave me a couple of DVDs with one of my favorite actresses, Drew Barrymore and a wonderful card with some sweet words in it that I'll probably keep forever. The best thing, though, was the hug and kiss <3 a="" all="" day="" great="" had="" hope="" i="" mother="" p="" s="" that="" too.="" you="">

I finished this book! Please check out the 2015 Reading List page.

The author of the book has a really Swedish name both first and last name. Is she Swedish or American?
Is she a good author?
Love the photo of MT in the doorway :-)
