#1510 a couple of hours I'll never have back

Does anyone else find it slightly ironic that MTV gives out awards for music videos when the channel doesn't actually show many music videos anymore? I can't remember the last time I saw a music video on MTV. I usually see videos on YouTube.

That being said, I just finished watching the 2015 Video Music Awards show. I felt kind of old, but I knew who most of the artists were, at least. I think what made me feel old was that I felt a little uncomfortable with the whole vibe. There was a lot of (implied) sex and drugs, but not all that much rock and roll. Were there any artists that actually performed with a band? I can't think of any.

It seemed like Miley Cyrus, who hosted the show, was screaming out LOOK AT ME! I'M EDGY! I'M NOT HANNAH MONTANA! I SMOKE POT AND WEAR SKIMPY CLOTHES! MY MOM AND DAD ARE SITTING RIGHT THERE! I'M SAYING SWEAR WORDS ON MTV! NOW I'M SINGING AND DANCING AROUND WITH TRANSGENDER PEOPLE! LOOK AT ME!!

It was kind of exhausting. It's entirely possible that Miley's song had a good message, but I couldn't really understand any of the words except, "Yeah, I smoke pot." Why does she think we give one tiny little poop about that?

I won't even get into the whole Kanye West thing. I was following him at first, but then he was all over the place before saying he was going to run for President in 2020, dropping the mic and walking off without his Moonman award. What?

My favorite performance was by The Weeknd. That guy has an amazing voice.

I also like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Their song, Downtown, has a lot of stuff going on. Entertaining and catchy.

I have a headache now.
