#1651 happy (pre) birthday Dad!

This is one of my very most favorite photos of my dad. I took it on the 1880 Train that we rode from Keystone, South Dakota to Hill City, South Dakota when we went to see Mount Rushmore.

Tomorrow is my dad's birthday, but since I won't be writing tomorrow, I wanted to wish him a very merry and happy birthday tonight!

My dad is a fantastic guy who taught me all about planning and organizing. He instilled a strong work ethic in me and I saw the loyalty that he had to the company that he worked for and I believe in that same principle. My dad believes in trying to do it yourself unless you know it won't work out, then it is a good idea to hire someone else to do it. I like that philosophy! Dad loves his family fiercely and is unapologetic about it. He is strong and determined and tough. He is thoughtful and generous. He is tenderhearted and emotional. He likes Westerns and classic country music. He's come a long way from the dirt floor farmhouse in Oklahoma where he was born, but I believe he's still a country boy at heart. He supported three women through college, even though he never attended college himself.

The past few years have been tough on my dad, but he's still kicking and showing the doctors that he's no sissy.

I love you Dad! Wish I could be there this weekend, but that will make seeing you here in Salt Lake next month even sweeter. We will have a grand celebration in May!
