#1756 travel Tuesday: this time last year

It was a year ago today that my mom, sister and I went to Barcelona. The three of us were so excited about the trip and I can tell you that a year later, there is rarely a week that goes by that we don't talk about the two weeks we spent in Catalunya.

My memories of that first day:

Seeing Sonia in the airport
The ride in the car through the city to the familiar neighborhood near Tibidabo where we would be staying those first days.
Eating an ensiamada and drinking Cacolat on the sidewalk while we waited for the AirBnB host to arrive.
Walking up the hill and around the corner to Roca y Battle, the house where my grandparents lived and taking photos in front of the door.
Tapas and beer at El Rincon bar.
Trying to stay awake so my body would adjust to Spain time.
Taking a walk with Lizzie to Puxet Park while Mom napped.
Buying jamon serrano and other things for a quick dinner.
Falling asleep hard and fast on the little bed in the dark room I shared with my sister.

I know there are many more memories from that first day, but those are the ones I remember the most.

My FB feed has quite a few photos from Mom and Lizzie and Sonia as we all remember that first day.

I hope that Mom and Lizzie write some of their memories on their blogs, too. When we got back I wrote about each day in detail (as I am wont to do) so I won't be revisiting that. If you would like to read (or re-read!) my posts about those two weeks, the first post is #1521.

I totally look forward to the day I visit Barcelona again. It is one of my favorite places and I miss it every day.
