#1816 the joy of staying home

I've had a nice amount of time off work, but I still find myself saying tonight, "I have to go back to work tomorrow? Darn it!"

This morning MT woke me up at 7:20 by kind of shouting, "Sandy! Sandy! It's 7:20! You're gonna be late for work!"

I had been sound asleep since I had gone to bed a bit later than normal (I was watching the last Harry Potter movie). I replied, "The office is closed today. I don't have to work."

There was silence for a second and then, "Oh. I did not know that. Never mind."

A couple of thoughts on this exchange. First, I have to be at work at 8:00. Waking up at 7:20 doesn't give me a lot of time to get ready. Second, we got a couple of inches of snow overnight, so I would have been really late for work because not only would I have had to get up and get dressed and make myself slightly presentable, I would have had to brush off my car and scrape the windows and deal with the slow traffic.

Thankfully, I didn't have to deal with any of that stuff. In fact, I didn't leave the house at all today. I did go outside to throw out some garbage and to throw a snowball at Osi, but those outside minutes don't really count. I washed, dried and folded several loads of laundry, looked at my financial situation (eek!) and read. I even managed to fit in a little nap. I will miss my daily naps when I got back to work. Guess I better get to bed at a reasonable time tonight.

That being said, I think I'll hobble up the stairs and start my bedtime preparations. It's snowing again right now, so I'll have to plan a few extra minutes in the morning for snow removal from the car. Sigh. Winter.

I'm sure MT could help you remove the snow from the car and have the motor running and the heater on, like Marv used to do for me ;)
Be careful driving!
