#2225 food talk Friday: Trader Joe's and Marie Sharp's

Maybe it's kind of messed up that I would talk about food I like on Friday after I was all woe-is-me-I-can't-stop-eating on Wednesday's post. Here I go anyway!

Today I went to Trader Joe's on my lunch break. Osi was out of chicken snacks and I was out of albacore, so it was imperative that I get over there. I always try to pick up something that I've never tried before. Today's new product was the Everything but the Bagel sesame seasoning.

I sprinkled a little on the avocado toast that I had for lunch and it was tasty. I guess it wasn't strictly avocado toast, though. I got some of the Avocado's Number guacamole packets. They are easy and tasty. I bought a sliced loaf of sourdough bread and I was happy with my little light lunch.

For dinner tonight I had a couple of eggs (also from Trader Joe's, by the way) and some roasted potatoes and peppers.

These potatoes and peppers and onions are so damn good, I could eat the whole bag all by myself.  I cook them from frozen. I put a bit of canola oil in my cast iron skillet and let the stove-top do the work. The potatoes come out tender; the veggies get all soft and caramelized. I fry a couple of eggs (using non-stick cooking spray from Trader Joe's), then top the potatoes with the eggs and put some Marie Sharp's hot sauce over it all. The yolk trickles down over the spuds and all is right with my world. It is my number one go-to comfort food.

Yes, I have a serious love for Trader Joe's. I try to only go there every other week or so. I still go to the regular grocery store for lots of things. My regular store list is pretty tame for the week though after a TJ's trip.

I mentioned Marie Sharp's hot sauce. It is hands down my favorite hot sauce ever. We learned about it in Belize back in 2012 and we have always had it in our house since. Marie Sharp's was in every restaurant we went to in Belize. It is the best: flavorful and spicy with lots of different heat options. I buy it on Amazon and they recently started carrying the mild flavor at my regular grocery store. I like the original hot the best and MT prefers the green habanero sauce. I buy both when I get them from Amazon, which I will order this weekend. The mild is really mild for my taste, but it is still yummy.

When we were in Belize, I tried the Belizean Heat and it hurt me. It was extremely spicy.

Hope y'all have plans for a great weekend! I'll be back to wrap up my weekend adventures on Sunday. See you then!
