#2234 travel Tuesday: where would you go again?

On Friday when MT were on our date night, he asked me of the places we have been, where would I go again. We always say that the world is such a big place and there are so many wonderful things to see that we probably wouldn't go back to the same places. I think that especially if the trip was amazing, a second visit might not be as spectacular because so many expectations would be attached to it. All that being said, here is the short list of places I have been (with MT) that I would consider visiting again, in order of the year we were there.

2010 PALM ISLAND

This private island resort located in St. Vincent and the Grenadines was spectacular from the first minute we laid eyes on it. The service was first class, the accommodations were superb, the food was excellent and the beach was incredible. The sand was white, the waves were bubbly like champagne and the water was always warm and perfect.

We went on an excursion in which we rented a sailboat with three other couples. The eight of us were taken to neighboring islands, fed a wonderful lunch, and had a lengthy snorkeling stop at a premier snorkeling destination in the area. I have seen some beautiful water in my travels, but nothing comes close to the Tobago Cays.

2012 BELIZE

What I loved about this vacation is that we broke it up so we stayed a few days out in the jungle and a longer time on an island. Although the beach was nothing to brag about (man-made; sand hauled in from somewhere else on the island), the condo where we stayed was very nice. The concierge there - her name was Terry - was outstanding. That pier you see in the photo - I spent hours out there looking into the water. I haven't ever seen as many different fish from a dry spot as I did from that pier. Also, the food we had in Belize was delicious and that Marie Sharps hot sauce remains a staple in my house to this day!

The craziest thing about Belize being in the top vacation trips is that it rained almost every day, the pool wasn't that great, and the beach, as I said, was not good. None of that matters in my memories, though, because I had such a great time. Maybe it was because T was so cool and fun on this trip.

I mentioned that we spent a few days in the jungle and we were able to take advantage of our proximity to Guatemala and visit Tikal. That excursion will always be a highlight of my life. It was completely wonderful.

2014 ISLA MUJERES, MEXICO

MT and T might tell you that this was one of their least favorite vacations, but I really, really liked it, probably because it is one of the most restful vacations I have ever had. I loved the condo where we stayed. It had an amazing pool that was so warm and inviting in the afternoon. The beach was great: not too crowded with warm, shallow water in that beautiful Caribbean blue. Of course the food in town was awesome and it was really easy to get around because the island is small.

The sunsets were divine.

2019 THAILAND

Even though I did a lot of research and looked at a lot of photos of the places we were going to visit in Thailand, I was absolutely blown away by how truly magnificent this place is. I am not often at a loss for words, but I cannot adequately describe, nor can my photos impress upon you, the sheer beauty of Thailand. The people we met were warm and friendly and polite. The food was indescribably delicious. The resorts where we stayed were not only comfortable and luxurious, they were also gorgeous to look at. Their locations were dreamy.

As with Belize, we visited another country, Cambodia, and had the privilege of going to Angkor Wat. Being there and seeing the ancient temples is something I won't ever forget and I cherish the memory.
