#2236 I was a dancing fool

Usually on Saturday I write about what I did today. Lately all of my Saturdays have been exactly the same: WW, bloom recording, docent time, late lunch/early dinner, wedding gate attendant. Today was all of those things plus I took my car in to be serviced and have the emissions checked to renew registration.

What I really want to write about was the ultra fun American Authors/O.A.R. show at Red Butte Garden on Friday night!

I actually got off work early on Friday (because it totally was the longest week ever and NO ONE could make it until 5:00, so we let everyone go home at 3:00). My original plan had been to head to RBG right after work, but since I had a couple of hours to spare, I came home, flopped on my bed and read and napped until around 5:30, then I left for the show. My check-in time was 7:00, and I got there around 6:30ish. (I stopped for a soda.)

I found a seat in the terrace and listened to the last few songs by Rozzi. The terrace got pretty full - sold out show and all that - and I made way for some guests that had a pretty large group. No big deal; I found a chair in a section I'd been wanting to try and settled in for American Authors.

Here's the thing about American Authors before: I knew one song of theirs, "Best Day of My Life", and I like it very much. Here's the thing about American Authors now: I still know one song, that same song, but I liked all the other songs they sang too. I kind of fell in love with the band and the lead singer. I couldn't see him, exactly, but he had such a cute personality and vibe that I was totally charmed. Today I have been listening to their music via Apple Music. Honestly their songs all kind of sound the same, but they sure were fun live!

After American Authors, I changed my seating location again, because I could and because I wanted to be toward the back so I could dance and not bother anyone. I found a perch at a tall table and it was fine but dance space was limited. The fun thing about that seat was that as I was sitting there waiting for O.A.R. a fellow came up to me and we chatted about Hamilton. I was wearing a Hamilton t-shirt so it wasn't weird. He told me that he and his wife had seen the show in London and we talked about the genius of Lin-Manuel Miranda and how much we learned about American history from the show. LOL

When O.A.R. came on, I had to change my location. I spotted a prime dance area in front of the snack bar that had plenty of space and where I wouldn't be in anyone's way. The snack bar was closing, so it worked perfectly. I took off my shoes and just started dancing back there by myself without a care and like no on was watching. That's not quite the truth...people did watch and then jumped up and danced along, so that's cool. I danced for a solid hour and a half. It wasn't good dancing by any means, but I had a blast! The music was great, the weather was perfect and it was all good! Afterward, I picked up garbage and that was fine too. I clocked out at 11:00 and was home by 11:30. Such a fun night!

Looking forward to next week, I've got a few fun things coming up. On Tuesday is the Shakey Graves concert. On Wednesday I am taking a spinning class at Rideology. Thursday is our wedding anniversary so we'll go out for dinner. We're thinking Thai. On Friday there is a concert I would really like to volunteer for, but I am not on the roster (yet). I'm still working on that one. Saturday MT and I  will go to Sundance Resort for a Bluebird Cafe show. Good times!

Tomorrow: chores.
