#2273 travel Tuesday: in which I travel stalk a friend

One of the men I work with is on vacation this month. The whole month of November. He left on November 2 and will return to work on December 2. I mean...that's awesome.

The best part of it is that he is actually traveling abroad. I don't mean to sound stalker-ish, but I really, truly like to hear about where people are going, so I kept bugging him until he practically gave me his itinerary. He and his wife like to cruise and they like Europe. Ty, my friend, enjoys the calm and quiet of the transAtlantic crossing, so those are the cruises they go on. Plus, I'm pretty sure they use Princess cruise lines exclusively, so it wasn't hard for me to track down the cruise he will be on.

Let's travel with Ty and his wife vicariously.

They are starting their vacation in Venice, where they will spend three nights. They will then board a train to Rome where they will spend another three nights before they board their ship in Rome. Note: Rome is an inland city, so the port is actually Civitavecchia. From there they will go to 10 ports in 21 days with stops in Italy (Florence and Genoa), France (Provence), Gibraltar, four stops in Spain (Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga and Seville), and two stops in Portugal (Lisbon and Madiera) After that, they will be at sea for seven days before they end up in Fort Lauderdale.

I thought he told me they were going to Greece, but I couldn't find a Princess cruise with stops in Greece for this time frame. I know they went to Greece on their cruise last year, so maybe he thought it was a repeat. Truthfully, I could be wrong, but I feel pretty confident in my cruise-stalking, as long as he's on Princess.

Except for the week at sea at the end, I think this trip sound amazing. One of the fun things about cruising is waking up at a different port every day. What a great way to see a whole bunch of places.

I am not complaining, though. I am looking forward to spending a week in Mexico soon. We are staying at an all-inclusive resort which, to me, is the ultimate in relaxation and care-free vacationing.  My days will probably look like this: I'll get up and put on my bathing suit and cover-up, have a bite of breakfast, then head out to the pool to read and dip into the water when it gets warm. At the appropriate time, I will find the nearest pool bar and make myself acquainted with the bartender and try to maintain a pleasant state of mind the remainder of the day. Yep, that's how I'll do it. We haven't planned any excursions or anything, but we've talked about a couple of things to do. Just gonna play it by ear. Sounds pretty great to me!
