Another fun feature of Apple Music is that it lets you know when artists drop new albums. I've gotten out of the habit of listening to full albums because I haven't wanted to spend the money on them. That's the beauty of streaming, though. A flat charge and I'm listening to all the albums I want.
There were two albums that came out this year that I listened to over and over: Hollywood's Bleeding by Post Malone and Ed Sheeran's No. 6 Collaborations Project.
You know I love me some Post Malone. This latest album has pretty much every kind of music he does on it. There's a bit of rap, some pure pop (I'm looking at you, "Circles"), and even some metal on that track with Ozzy Osborne, which rocks, by the way. The album includes "Wow", my favorite Post Malone song and "Sunflower". Who doesn't love "Sunflower"? It features Swae Lee and has a catchy hook. The album is great.
I like Ed Sheeran. I saw him open for Taylor Swift on the Red tour, I think it was. He had just come out with his first album. I'd never seen anyone work a loop like that guy does. I was mightily entertained by him and I have enjoyed his music ever since. There's really only been one song of his that I didn't love, and I think it was probably his most popular song. Even Beyonce wanted a piece of the song "Perfect".
Anyway, maybe that duet with Beyonce got Ed thinking about this Collaborations project. Every song is a collaboration and pretty much every song is good, at least to me. I was just looking through the track list and there are just a couple of songs that I don't really like - one being that collab with Justin Bieber, and maybe that's because it was on the radio. All.The.Time.
One of my favorite tracks is "South of the Border" with Camila Cabello and Cardi B. Cardi's verse is fire. Then there is "Blow" with Bruno Mars and Chris Stapleton. I don't think I would ever have put Ed, Bruno and Chris together, but there it is. Musical magic to me.
For something completely different, here is a song that has been in my head most of the year, "Con Calma" by Daddy Yankee. OOH! Reggaeton!! I'm pretty sure I first heard it in a Zumba class. I just watched the video for the first time tonight, and I'm gonna share it because, well, it's catchy as hell and makes me want to wiggle around. I want to learn these dance moves! Enjoy!
