In case you've lost track, today is Thursday April 2. That means it is time for
1. Working from home. I have been working from home since March 17. I like it for the most part, but it's certainly not as comfortable as working at the office, which is, of course, set up for work. My desk space is on my dining room table. I think my furniture is beautiful and I am happy to have it, but I will tell you that the dining room chair is not meant to be sat in for eight hours. Yes I get up and move around, but my bum and back still hurts. I added a pillow today for an extra bit of cushion and it helped a lot.
I saw these words on Twitter yesterday.
"You are not working from home; you are at your home during a crisis trying to work."
Just yes.
2. The MCU. That's the Marvel Cinematic Universe, if you don't know. It includes the Avenger movies and all movies of the related characters. There are 24 movies in all. I have been wanting to watch them. I have Disney+ and I think 22 of the 24 movies are available there, so I'm watching them in the chronological order of the movies (not the release order). I've seen most of them before, but there are a few (like the Guardians of the Galaxy movies) that I haven't seen. I'll binge a little this weekend. So far I have watched five films. I'm enjoying this movie adventure.
3. COVID-19. Yes, the big monstrous virus on the planet. The reason we are all staying home and washing our hands and trying our hands at baking. I really do try to keep my consumption of the news to a minimum. I do not obsess about the virus and what it is doing, but I am a numbers person and I have to know what the numbers are. I look at this website typically once or twice a day because the information is presented in an easy-to-read fashion and it just is what it is.
This may be morbid, but, like I said, I'm a numbers person and I want to see how the numbers change. I first recorded the numbers on March 24, which was a week ago Tuesday, so nine days ago. If you don't want to see this, thanks for stopping by and I'll talk to you on Saturday. Be safe and healthy, friends.
Here's the breakdown:
Over the past nine days, the number of cases globally has increased by over 593,000. The number of deaths globally has increased by over 34,000.
In the United States, the number of cases is up by almost 191,000. The number of deaths in the US has increased by nearly 5,300.
In Utah, cases are up by nearly 800 in those nine days and deaths are up by six.
I don't pray, but if I did, it would be for the day when those numbers don't increase so enormously every day. Like I said, it might be morbid, but seeing these statistics helps me remember why I am staying home and to be thankful that we are healthy and safe.
