#2484 self-care Sunday

This morning I slept in until around 8:15. Mac and I went for a walk at the park. It was a bit warmer than yesterday (around 31 degrees today, but no wind), so I wasn't as bundled up as I have been, although I was still fully covered from head to toe. Yesterday it was really cold and I had on so many layers I resembled the little kid from A Christmas Story

After our walk, we made our regular Sunday stop at Starbucks. Peppermint mocha for me, a pup cup for Mac. The dog treat is also known as a puppucino, but the girl out the 'Bucks called it a pup cup and I think it's clever. If you don't know, it's a tiny cup filled with whipped cream. Mac loves it.

I made myself a little breakfast, egg and toast, to go along with my coffee. I read for a few minutes, then took a shower. That's when the self-care realization really kicked in. I washed my hair and put on a hair mask. My hair is so dry! I shaved my legs. I scrubbed my feet with a pumice stone to slough off the dry skin. After the shower, I slathered myself with moisturizer. I put a mask on my face. I trimmed my toenails. I pushed back the cuticles on my fingers and toes. After I washed off the mask, it was my face's turn to be slathered with moisturizer.

With my skin all hydrated and feeling refreshed, I headed downstairs. I got a nice big glass of my favorite drink (ice water), and turned on a Christmas movie. My choice this morning: Santa Clause 2. I love the faculty Christmas party scene where Scott gives everyone their favorite childhood toys and all the teachers are having fun playing Toss Across and Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. I tear up every time. While I was watching, I painted my toenails a festive red, then I got some popcorn and sat back to enjoy the movie.

After the movie, I read for awhile until MT came home. We had food from Cafe Rio this afternoon. Now I'm about ready to go downstairs and watch more movies. I may even watch two more tonight! I have a soft goal to watch at least one movie every day while I'm off for the next couple of weeks.

There wasn't an intention for today be self-care day, but it worked out, and I embraced it!

I still have a couple of little things to pick up for Christmas. I might go out tomorrow to finish it up.

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend!
