#2494 Saturday with Sandy

I slept in today until 9:30. I was surprised that I slept that late. I was surprised the dogs didn't wake me up earlier for their food or to go outside. All of us were quiet and peaceful. It doesn't happen very often, so it was pretty great.

At my weigh-in today I was down 2.4 lbs! I'm quite sure the loss was a direct result of being back to work so I had to be more intentional about planning meals, not just snacking all the time. When I was on vacation, I mostly just planned dinner and free-styled during the day by which I mean I didn't eat regular meals. It's not a good way to go for me.

After the weigh-in, MT and I had our first ever "money date". It's a concept that MT has been talking about for awhile. He asked me to listen to a podcast from BiggerPockets Money (episode 157). We both did the recommended homework, which included writing out our five year vision, and the really good thing is that our visions are right in alignment. I think having regular meetings to talk about our financial situation will be a good thing for us. It's not like we never talk about our money, but setting aside an hour this morning was positive. We'll do it again in a couple of weeks. We set up an agenda of what we want to talk about next time and what we hope to get out of that meeting.

I was surprised just now when I was getting the link to the podcast. There are so many articles about money dates!

After our date, MT went to work on one of the properties. I took T to work, then I came home to putter around the house. My first chore was to clean up the backyard. There's a lot of dog poo back there, so I told myself that I needed to get out there for half an hour on Saturday and Sunday to clean it up. It's not just poo, it's debris that Mac flings around like pieces of wood or old hoses that she finds. There are also lots of old bones that she has found that Osi hid around the yard.

Before I went outside, I downloaded a book on Audible. I don't remember ever listening to an audio book before. The first download was free, and I used it to get the latest choice from Reese's Book Club, Outlawed by Anna North. It is a Western set in the late 1800s about a queer feminist gang of robbers. It has been unexpected and a way different read (or listen) for me. It was a good way to pass time while cleaning up the yard. I continued to listen when I came inside to vacuum, swiffer, and dust. I also took down the few Christmas decorations we had up. It's always kind of a bummer to do that, but it didn't make a huge difference this year since we didn't have much up to begin with.

By far my favorite part of the day, to that point, was when I went upstairs to my room. I just wanted to lay on my bed for a few minutes. Both dogs jumped up there too and snuggled with me. We spent around 15 minutes just snuggling. It was wonderful. They were both so sweet.

I bought Harley a harness and a new leash today. She is a strong puller and I was hopeful that a harness would help her. I also got a new leash with a padded handle. I'm happy to report that the harness was a lot nicer for both of us. I need to adjust it a little more so it will fit her just right, but it did make a difference.

We had Thai food for dinner when T got home, then MT and I watched the movie Love, Rosie. Thanks for the recommendation Mamacita. We both liked it. I'd totally stay at Rosie's hotel.

It's been a long day, but a productive one, I'd say. Now it's time for me to crawl into my bed. I might have to put the warming bag in at my feet. I have been a little cold all day. It was sunny but cold here today. The temperature was in the 40s, but the wind was blowing in from the north and it felt a lot colder.

Enjoy your Sunday!
