Tonight I feel like this evening rushed by. I guess I did quite a lot, when I think back on it, but it always surprises me when it’s nearly bedtime.
When I got home, the dogs were beyond excited to see me. Harley was so thrilled she peed a little. Sadly, it was on me that she peed, so it wasn’t a great homecoming welcome. Their enthusiasm cannot be overstated. I changed my shirt, put on my walking shoes, and leashed them up for their walk. Harley is still pulling really hard, but we made a little progress on her training tonight. She is learning the words “wait” and “slow”. When I say “slow”, she will slow down, which is great, but then when I tell her “good”, she goes right back to speed-walking/pulling. It’s not just that she walks really fast, but she pulls hard, too. There are many times when Harley will be pulling forward but Mac has gone back a couple of steps to smell something, so my arms will be stretched in opposite directions. I’m sure it probably looks hilarious.
There is a dog in the neighborhood I haven’t seen before. It’s a little poodle named Bentley. His people let him out in the front yard. Bentley froze at the sight of Mac and Harley coming his way. His human, an older man, was frantically calling, “Here Bentley! Here Bentley!” Bentley didn’t move. We quickly crossed the street to avoid mayhem, although both my dogs were quite interested in getting to know Bentley a little better.
After the walk, it was dog food time. I’ve become pretty about handling the meal situation. Mac eats in the kitchen and Harley eats on the other side of the counter in the dining area. Harley has sped up her eating and Mac has slowed down a bit, so they finish around the same time, then they go check out the other’s empty bowl. It works out.
For dinner tonight I made creamy Cajun pasta with chicken and sausage. It was really good. The meal was T’s choice; he always chooses a pasta dish. I made MT’s choice last night: tacos. After dinner I did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen. MT turned on the TV to continue watching a series. T went to his room, so I came to my room to do a language lesson. Tonight was French. I know so much more French than I did when I first started (lol) but I’m quite sure my accent is awful and the verb tenses are tricky. I’m trying though, and if I ever get to France (perhaps in October?) I will at least know some words.
Now look, it’s nearly 10:00. The dogs are snoozing. Harley has lots of dreams. She was just whining and kind of twitching next to me. I put my hand on her shoulder and said soothing words. Mac was concerned and came over to lick her nose. Awww. Now they have both resumed their snoozing positions.
I think I’ll go take out my contacts, wash my face, brush my teeth, and do a meditation to prepare me for sleep. I wish I’d made myself a cup of tea, but I didn’t and I don’t feel like doing it now. Meditation will be good with my noise-cancelling AirPods. T has started playing a video game with his friends and he can get kinda noisy.
Have a good night!
