You are not going to believe this, but I did NOT watch the Grammy awards last night. I just couldn't rustle up the energy, even though I listened to a lot of music over the past year. I understand there were some fun performances, so I spent a little time before starting this post to watch the performances I was most interested in: Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Post Malone, Bad Bunny, DaBaby, and Dua Lipa.
DaBaby was nominated for one of my favorite songs of the year, "Rockstar". I have to say, though, that the performance left me going, "What the hell?" Actually, I left me thinking that I could totally be one of the old white women that were singing backup. (You have to see it to know what I mean, but T totally agreed that I could have been one of those women.)
Dua Lipa did two songs: "Levitating" featuring DaBaby, and "Don't Stop Now". The woman is gorgeous and I like her voice. I've was jamming to her songs in 2020. I liked her performance. (So did my son!)
You know I love Post Malone. He performed "Hollywood is Bleeding". He sounded great. I'm not sure what was up with the scary dudes surrounding him. Very gothic vibe.
I really loved both of Taylor Swift's albums that came out last year, folklore and evermore. I liked the way they sounded. She performed a medley of "Cardigan", "August", and "Willow". I thought she sounded great and looked beautiful.
The popularity of Latin music in the mainstream makes me happy. I frequently listen to the Dale Play playlist on Apple Music because I like the beats and the rhythms. You definitely hear a lot of Bad Bunny on that playlist. His performance of "DAKITI" was fun. It made me want to get up and dance. When I hear Latin music, it reminds me of how much I miss Zumba.
Of course, what can I say about Harry Styles? He is delectable. I know that's a cringy thing to say, but I was pretty mesmerized by his performance of "Watermelon Sugar."
If you have time to watch any of the performances, check out Silk Sonic's performance of "Leave the Door Open." Silk Sonic is Anderson.Paak and Bruno Mars. They are rocking the throwback '70s R & B vibe. Listen to the lyrics. They will make you giggle.
Listen to all kinds of music. It's good for you!
