#2681 a weird day

The day started out well enough. I packed my lunch (leftover pasta and an apple), made myself a yummy breakfast sandwich and a nice cup of coffee, and headed to work. The first 45 minutes went by just fine, then time seemed to just. Stop.

There were just three of us in the admin department until about 9:00 when a fourth person got in. I’m not counting the two IT guys who were there because they were doing their own thing. Usually there are seven or eight women in the admin office on Friday. Today there were at least two people who were ill and stayed home. Another woman decided to partake of company ski day, and the other woman, well, I’m not really sure where she was. Maybe she took the day off. Anyway, it was super quiet because, like I mentioned, it was company ski day, so most of the engineers were up on the mountain, and there really weren’t many people in the building.

The time dragged on. I wasn’t the only one feeling this way. My two office companions were also commenting on how slow the day seemed to be going. There is a stupid clock hanging on the wall that is frozen at 11:14. It is prominent and I see it all the time. It just seemed to be taunting me today, so I pronounced it dead.

Although it made me giggle, it did nothing to skooch the time along.

I was in such a time warp that I found myself eating crapola when I wasn’t even that hungry. Yesterday at the office we had a post-Valentine’s Day festival with snacks and a Fiiz-style drink area. There were lots of leftovers. It wasn’t that I had a lot of snacks, it’s more that I wasn’t taking care of myself and making good choices.. I brought food, but I didn’t eat it - except for that breakfast sandwich. I skipped lunch because I wasn’t feeling too hungry, until I was hungry, and then it was FINALLY time to go home.

I cam home feeling hungry, and  after walking the dogs, I was hangry. I decided to make dinner at 5:00, and I ate waaaay too much. I went upstairs and laid on my bed, waking up an hour later, still feeling full and kinda yucky in my belly.

It is President’s Day weekend. This is the first President’s Day I’ve had off in over 20 years. Here in Utah, we usually trade off President’s Day in February for Pioneer Day in July. This year, Granite added Martin Luther King Jr Day as a holiday. That’s in January, so Utah opted to switch out MLK Day for Pioneer Day. I was fine with that, especially since we were just coming off the Christmas/New Year’s break. It’s going to be nice to have a three-day weekend.

Mostly, I’m ready for this day to be done. I’m not as tired as I usually feel on Friday night, but I feel a bit bloated and gross. I’ll have my weekly chat with my mom, then get to bed, I think. I’ve got three days ahead of me to have fun with, and I intend to be ready!

Happy weekend, y’all!
