Isn't it kind of awesome to know that women have been making this face for hundreds of years?
She is in the Room of Heliodorus, one of the four Raphael Rooms in the Vatican. I was absolutely blown away by the expression on her face (and her big arms).
I was going to share more pics tonight, but I got caught up looking for more information about her. She is not a central figure in the paintings in the room, but along the bottom portion of the walls, there are these paintings of women, and the portion of the room with the paintings is supported by their heads. Click here to see what I mean.
I don't really want to put up random photos of art that caught my eye without knowing a little more about the piece. More later, probably.
