This month started off with an unwelcome visitor: Covid. I tested positive last night. GRR
I started feeling sick on Saturday. I thought I’d caught a cold on Friday night. I volunteered at a concert. Before the show, the weather turned from very hot to very rainy. There was a cloudburst over the Garden that brought down buckets of rain and swirling wind. I got wet even though I was under a canopy and wearing a rain poncho. The rain eventually let up, then the winds kicked up, sustained and gusty for quite a while. The gates were supposed to open at 5:30, but were pushed back to 6:15. By 6:30, when the first performer came on the stage, at exactly the time originally scheduled, the weather had calmed down and it was really nice weather. Around 9:15, the canyon wind came along, as it usually does, but it wasn’t really cold, just windy.
The show, by the way, was fantastic. There were three performers: G-Love, Dispatch, and O.A.R. Such a fun night of music. I was on west side recycle and it was busy, but there was still time to enjoy the music. I like it when a slower song is performed and people pull out their cell phone flashlights.
Saturday morning I had plans to do stuff, but when my alarm buzzed, I turned it off and rolled back over to get some more sleep. I’d been a little sleep-deprived all week. We got back from California on Tuesday night, and I had a heckuva time falling asleep that night. The next night, Wednesday, I volunteered at a concert and got home late. Thursday is kind of a blur because I was so tired. I know I went to sleep at 9:30 that night. Then it was Friday. So, yeah, on Saturday, I was tired. I was also stuffy and had a little cough. I stayed home all day. Sunday I felt okay, and I did my docent gig, went to the grocery store, then came home where I promptly took a nap.
Monday when I woke up, I felt rough. My head was stuffy. The cough was more constant, and I felt fatigued. Fortunately, it was a work from home day, and I gave it everything I had, but I took more breaks than I usually do, and I slept through my lunch break. After work, at 4:00, I crawled into bed for another nap. I felt awful. We have some Covid tests here at home, and the result was clear. Positive. I’ve got The Virus.
Today I took a sick day from work. I have been sleeping most of the day. When I’m not asleep, I’m mostly laying down. It takes a big effort to be upright. My limbs feel extra heavy. My head aches. My back hurts. My head is full of snot. The cough is infrequent but annoying, dry and raspy. When I stand up, I feel dizzy. I can still smell and taste, but I don’t have much of an appetite. I’m hanging out in my bedroom. The dogs haven’t let me out of their sight.
I had a wonderful time in California over the weekend. The weather was excellent, the perfect temperature for me, in the low 80s. Mom and Lizzie were terrific hostesses. The plans they made were fun, and there was plenty of downtime, too, which was great. Plus, we had really good food!
That’s all for today. I need to blow my nose and lay down now.

I'm so sorry you got the Covid and I hope you get well soon.
The main thing you need to do is to rest. T and Marty are 2 grownups that can take care of themselves, the dogs, and you. I truly hope they are up to the task and you get a good rest and get better soon. And of course, take off work until you feel good, don't want any relapse!!!
Take care, get well, and eat to get your strength up. Call your doctor and see if he has any advice for you.
Keep us posted. Love you, here are some virtual kisses for you....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmha!!!
Yeah, it really sucks that you have Covid, but I’m glad you’re vaccinated so it’s just the worst cold you’ve ever had. Please keep resting and taking care of yourself. Sleep and water are your best friends, plus your furry companions. Big big hugs!
