#2773 three things: music, music, and more music

1. Music at work. Since I work in a cubicle and am surrounded by other people, especially on Thursday when everyone is in the office, I often put in an AirPod and listen to music. I don’t listen to pop music, or really any music where I might know the words. It takes away from my focus when I know the words, because then I’ll just think about the words and the words that are coming. I can listen to music with words, just not songs that I know. Mostly I listen to classical or ambient, electronic sounds. I really like lo-fi downbeats, too.  My favorite playlists on Apple Music when I am at work are in the Chill, Focus, or Classical categories. I also like to listen to songs in different languages, like…

 2. Rap music in other languages. I read a book last year in which the characters liked to listen to French rap as they fell asleep. I was curious about it, of course, so I started listening to French rap through Apple Music. I don’t know if I could fall asleep to it, but I definitely listen to it when I’m at work. Today I was listening to the top songs in Germany, and was pretty delighted with German rap. I will also tell you that I listened to a wonderful playlist the other day called “A Walk in Barcelona” that featured songs in Spanish and Catalan. I really enjoyed that musical treat.

3. RIP Coolio. I was sad to hear about the passing of the rapper Coolio today. He was only 59. “Gangster’s Paradise” is such a great song, but my favorite song of his is “Fantastic Voyage”. I like the beat and the bounce of it. I’ll leave it here for you to give a listen and look, if you like.  It’s just a good vibe.
