#75 colds and countdowns

There haven't been any posts this week because I have had a cold and it has zapped all my energy for sitting in front of this computer to write. I stayed home from work on Monday and spent nearly the whole day asleep in bed, with brief breaks to watch half-hour increments of whatever was on Food Network. Back at work on Tuesday, I was in a Nyquil-induced haze although I still managed to sit in on our budget review meeting in the afternoon. I promptly went to bed when I got home. Wednesday and Thursday saw me back at almost full speed but with a cough so rough that now my throat is scratchy. It was also hard for me to concentrate at work because I was vicariously counting down the days until my friend K's vacation to the Dominican Republic. She leaves tomorrow and will return the day we leave for that island. K and I have spent some fun minutes comparing what we have packed and what we plan to do in that tropical paradise. She is going to Punta Cana, and I will be in La Romana, but we both plan to enjoy the white sandy beaches and El Presidente beer.

T seems to be over his cold now and I'm glad for that. MT apparently had a little fender-bender at work that he didn't immediately take care of, so he suffered a sleepless night until he went to work this morning and confessed to the owner of the other car, who didn't even notice that his car had another dent in its bumper.

It is very cold here and we are getting ready for another snowstorm this weekend. It seems that this has been a really snowy winter, compared to the past few years. We had a lot of snow on Monday, too. I really am ready for a Caribbean vacation. Only 12 more days!

Many years ago at the only other job I've had, there was a lady who was very nice but very annoying when it came time for her vacations. She would begin counting down months in advance and announce how many days were remaining until she was off to her vacation destination, which was usually the Oregon coast or occasionally the Mesa Verde area of Colorado, which she pronounced "Maysa Virdy". I always vowed that I would not be that annoying when it came time for me to go on vacation, and for lots of years, I wasn't. But now I fear I am. I do not announce the number of days remaining however, unless someone asks me. Then I feel kind of silly that I know, but there you have it.

Well with all the snow and cold you've been having, I would be counting the days to a vacation as well!
Now you take good care of that cold, and rest as much as you can :)
