#142 work, golf and Sheryl Crow

It feels like it's been a long time since my last post. A lot of stuff has happened. I'll recap:

Work has been a little hellish for the past couple of weeks. On the 15th one of the ladies in my department left, partly because of my actions. It really hurt me and shook my confidence. The 15th was also my 15th wedding anniversary. After a long day at work, we went out for dinner at Tepanyaki. That was really tasty and lots of fun, too.

That weekend my in-laws were here to help MT with the rental. It was great to have them over. They came to dinner with us on Friday night. I don't remember Saturday.

On Sunday I took T to the golf course where we played on a nine-hole par 3 course. (Par 3 means that it should take you three shots to put the ball in the hole.) T hadn't played for awhile, so we were playing best ball. That means I'd hit a ball, then he'd hit a ball and we'd play the best one. He did great for the first four holes and we regularly played his ball. Then I caught fire and made par on the last five holes. I hit every green and putted well. That was fun!

I don't remember much about Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday I went on a business trip to the Stockton area. That night my contacts were so dry that I ripped my right lens in two and had to wear my glasses for the rest of the week. I do not feel confident or attractive in my glasses. I had to stand up in a room full of people and give a presentation and I didn't feel confident or attractive. That really sucks, but there it is. I didn't mind being in Stockton because it was nice to get away from my office and get a little perspective. The hotel, a Holiday Inn Express, was nice. I got home on Friday night.

Saturday was my weigh-in. I lost a pound. I was very happy with that. I was thoughtful about what I was eating when I was on my trip, but you don't really have control over what is available to eat. And there was no exercise those days, so I was glad to still have a minus!

After the WW meeting I usually go to the gym. Last week I noticed a class that was going on that looked like fun, so I tried it. The class was called Zumba and it's a Latin music exercise class. It was so much fun! I felt like I was on vacation. The music was awesome. Here's what I found out about myself - I was a big clump of rhythm-less girl. It hurt me to find out about this because I have thought that I had a little rhythm. The mirror doesn't lie, though. I couldn't keep up, but I tried and I had fun. I couldn't help but laugh at myself. Every once in awhile I'd get it and then the steps would change. The instructor even asked me after the class if it was my first time. OY! I'll try it again next week because it was really fun.

Sunday T and I were back at the golf course, but we (I) didn't play as well as last week. We still had a good time.

Last night MT and I went to see Sheryl Crow in concert. I have liked her music for a long time and I was excited to see her. She had two opening bands: Toots and the Maytalls, a reggae-type outfit that we liked, and James Blunt. I gotta say it. I didn't like him at all. I really don't like that "Beautiful" song he does, and I didn't like the others either. All of his songs mostly sounded the same to me. My apologies to the girls who were screaming "I love you James!" behind me and singing along to all the boring songs. He was just not it for me.

Sheryl was good but the sound wasn't good. I thought the lead guitar sound overpowered her vocals. Sometimes it sounded like they were playing underwater or something. It seemed kinda wavy. MT thought the sound was fine, so maybe something is wrong with me. (He also didn't care for James Blunt.)

To follow up on the work thing, the lady who left on the 15th came back to work on the 21st. She and I have had some conversations about what made her want to leave and I can fix what was broken on my part. I'm glad to have her back and I learned a lot by her leaving.

So that's that. Love and peace, peeps!
