#751 one week after surgery

Has it only been seven days since I had the surgery? It's seems like I've been wearing these surgical support hose and moving around on these crutches for longer than a week.

Things are going pretty well. I had a rough night on Saturday/Sunday.  I woke up around 2:30 in a lot of pain and had a difficult time getting comfortable and falling back to sleep. Last night was much better, and I just now woke up from a short nap this evening.

The physical therapist was here today and she was very pleased with my progress. She said I have very good quad control - the quad being the large muscle on the front of the leg. I was also able to do a couple of exercises that she says she hasn't seen people be able to do unassisted just a week after surgery. It made me feel good and glad that I exercised prior to surgery. It seems to be helping my recovery.

On the other hand, the nurse was here today too and my blood pressure is very high. She called my regular doctor and my surgeon about it, but I haven't heard from anyone today. It kind of freaks me out.

My mother-in-law arrived today to help me out this week. T is here and he is helpful, but it's nice that Linda would take some time to come over and give me a hand. I think it's nice for MT to have his mom here too.

It's time for me to get back into the CPM machine. That is probably my least favorite. I just sit/lay there for two hours at a time, three times a day and the machine bends my leg to 90 degrees and back down to minus six degrees.. Those are my current settings. 92 is as far as I've gone, but I will turn that up eventually. What the machine is doing is helping to break up the scar tissue that is forming around the knee so that I will have full range with it. Pretty much all the exercises have the aim to break up the scar tissue. It can be a little painful to do that. Anyway, two hours is a long time to sit still. My bum usually falls asleep.

On that note, good-night!

Glad you are feeling a little better. I know how it is being sitting down for a long time when you are used to be up and around, but you got to do what you have to do.
I'm also glad and thanksful that Linda is there to help. Please let her know I appreciate it!
I wonder if maybe the doctor may give you some pill to lower your BP, let me know. It may be a result of surgery and medication you are taking.
Keep up the good work, nice to know all your gym time is helping now :)
Love you
