#755 on and off screen couples

Happy Labor Day! At our house, this three-day weekend signals the end of summer, the beginning of the school year, and the last push to get stuff done before winter. Sometimes we take a little trip; sometimes we just stay home. This year was a just-stay-home year. I really wasn't in a mood or position to go anywhere. We mostly just stayed home this weekend, but today we roused ourselves to go see the movie Hit and Run. It stars real life couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard.

They are cute together. In some scenes, I could imagine that they were just hanging out, driving around and having a conversation. The movie itself was kind of goofy (what was going on with all those naked people in that motel room?!), but it was entertaining and I think we all mostly liked it.

Bradley Cooper did not look good.

Those dreads are bad news.

Anyway...watching Dax and Kristen made me think of other real life couples who made movies together. I know there are a lot, but I couldn't think of a single one. Thank God for Google. There are many, many examples, but I only chose a few.

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield

These two kids are in The Amazing Spider-Man. I don't know if they are a couple that will go the distance, but they are cute now. All three of us are big fans of Emma Stone, so I wanted to include this couple because we really like her.

Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Ben and Jen were in the movie Daredevil together. Now they are married and have cute children. Good for them!

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem

These beautiful Spaniards were in the movie Vicky Christina Barcelona. Now they are married and have a baby. They are my mother's countrymen. I bet they enjoy eating tapas together.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

It still bothers me that Brad dumped his wife Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie. Yes, yes, Angelina is stunningly gorgeous and Brad wanted kids and Angie already had some and now they have a bunch more, but still. They were in the movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Annette Bening and Warren Beatty

Remember the movie Bugsy? I thought Annette was beautiful in that picture, and apparently, Warren did too because they got married and I think they are still together. I like Annette's short hair.

Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins

Tim and Susan aren't together anymore, but I had to include them because they met while filming one of my very most favorite movies, Bull Durham. She was Annie and he was "Nuke" LaLoosh. Loved it.

 Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman
 

One of the most enduring couples, and very attractive too, was Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward.They made ten movies together, and my favorite of those was The Long, Hot Summer. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I remember thinking it was pretty good, and quite fun to watch. I love that Paul and Joanne were married for 50 years.

Like I said, I know there are many other real life couples that shared the silver screen. Who are your favorites?
