Today has been very nice, as you might imagine. I woke up this morning without the alarm clock, even though I opened my eyes just a couple of minutes before the alarm went off. I started the day with my WW meeting. Down 1.6 lbs! I'll take it :) Always nice to see a loss there. I haven't really been kicking ass with the weight loss thing; I've lost about seven pounds since I started up again. There's been a bit of yo-yo-ing going on. I'll lose a pound then gain a pound and a little then I'll lose a little a couple of weeks in a row, then I'll gain a little. It's a process. I'm not as militant about it as I was the first time I joined. What I say today is that what I weigh today will be the most I will weigh from here on. I want to sting a few weeks of losses together!
After the meeting, I decided to run some errands. I had to pick up Osi's meds, then I went to Costco to buy some stuff for Taco-Rama. (I will talk about Taco-Rama on Monday.) While I was at Costco, I bought myself some flowers. Remember a few weeks ago when I said I wanted flowers? Remember how I have talked about my love for geraniums? Well, now I have some!
They are light pink, even though they look kind of white in this pic. I like them a lot!
After Costco I zipped over to Target. I needed a pot for my plants and some potting soil and a few other things, too. I felt very satisfied with all my purchases.
When I got home, I made tacos. They were delicious. I also had avocado that was perfect for guacamole, so I made some of that, too. It was a feast and I have been full all day.
Today is the first Saturday of May and you know what that means, don't you? It's Kentucky Derby day! I try not to miss the Kentucky Derby or the other two races in the Triple Crown. I remember watching the races when I was a kid. I used to love it when my dad took me to the races in Burley and Rupert. Those were mostly quarter horse races, but it's still fun to watch them run.
I watched the pre-race festivities for a long time. There was considerable discussions about mint juleps and the ladies' hats. There were also stories about the horses and the jockeys and the owners. In particular there was a segment about the owners of the horse California Chrome. The horse was born, raised and trained in California. The owners paid a small amount of money for the mom-horse and the stud fee. They were told they were "dumb-asses" for buying the mom-horse, so they named their stable Dumb Ass Partners. The two men seemed so nice. When he was being interviewed, he was quite emotional and I really liked him. It is also his birthday today. His horse, California Chrome, ended up winning the Kentucky Derby! What a great birthday present! I was screaming and cheering for the horse as the jockey let run along the home stretch. I got all teary when the camera turned to the owners and the trainer and they were all crying. I'm such a baby like that!
After all that, I did spend a bit of time outside reading. It was warm today, but a little breezy. By the time I got outside, the wind had died down, but it was a little cloudy. No matter. I enjoyed sitting outside, drinking ice tea. Yes, ice tea which I thought tasted like cool dirty water. I'm trying to cut back on my Diet Coke habit. I drink water, but sometimes you want flavor. I don't know if dirty water is the flavor I'm looking for, though.
You know what I did after that? I took a nap. It was short, but it was sweet. I appreciate a nice little nap.
Now I'm watching basketball. I was happy that the Thunder beat the Grizzlies. I'm not sure who I'm rooting for in the Clippers/Warriors game. I like both teams. It's halftime and the Warriors are leading.
I have quite a few brown bananas on my counter. I want to use them in some way, so I think I'll look at Pinterest and see if I can find a good recipe or two. I could take a banana treat to work for dessert on Monday after Taco-Rama.
All right, that's all for tonight. I hope you enjoyed the play-by-play of my day :) Talk to you tomorrow!
