#1189 taking a few days off

The way the vacation days are doled out at my work is kind of strange. Each employee has a maximum number of hours they get for vacation each year depending on their length of employment at the company. The employee accrues vacation hours each pay period. When you reach your maximum allotment of hours, your accrual stops and won't start again until you have used some vacation hours.

Last year I didn't use very many vacation hours, so what I had left at the end of the year rolled into this year. My max hours is 160, and for most of this year, I have been smack up against the 160 max. I've taken a day and a day there, but not really any days together.

This morning I was looking at my work load and at my vacation days that would not be accruing on the next pay day and I thought, "I should take a day off." And then I thought, "Hell, I should take two days off." Then I just went crazy and said, "I'm gonna take the rest of this week off!"

So now I am on vacation!

I'm staying at home; MT has to work and T is still in school, but I can think of lots of things to do to keep me entertained this week:

hit golf balls
go to the library
swiffer the floors, dust, mop, vacuum
clean the bathroom
take out my summer-y clothes and put the sweaters away (finally!)
go for a bike ride
walk to Starbucks - and back
see a movie (every day!)
read
sit outside and drink a beer in the afternoon
try out a new recipe
nap
take Osi for a walk
take Osi to the groomer
watch some On Demand Tonight Show episodes
turn music up really loud and dance around & sing at the top of my lungs
go check out the new Marshall's store in my neighborhood
plant some flowers
order a new swimming suit (or two) for Mexico!
go to the pool

I'm not going to write down anything obvious like play solitaire on my computer or any of the games on my phone or look at Pinterest. Those things will happen anyway.

There are some things on that list that really ought to get done in the next five days (counting Saturday and Sunday) and there are things that I would really like to do. I'll just play it by ear and see what happens.

I'm feeling pretty happy about my vacation :)
