I went to the doctor in mid-October and was told that I have a viral infection and there was no medicine that I could take that would make it go away. The doctor gave me a bunch of suggestions to try to shorten the cold - everything from using the netty pot to taking Benadryl to get some sleep to getting more rest in general.
I did all those things and I still feel like crap. I went back to the doctor and told her that I wondered if I had a sinus infection. We talked about it for awhile and she looked in my ears and up my nose and down my throat and agreed to give me some antibiotics. She said that it was unusual/rare for a person with a viral infection to develop a bacterial infection on top of it. She also gave me some cough syrup with codeine so I could get some good sleep without waking up in a coughing fit. The cough syrup worked nicely last night. I hope it will keep working. The doctor told me I should be feeling better in 48 -72 hours. The clock is ticking!
Today I still felt really stuffy, but I don't think I was coughing as much. MT and I were sitting around watching the Jazz game and MT commented that he hadn't heard me cough as much tonight. Still stuffy. Still have lots of mucus. I am feeling hopeful, though, that I'm getting over it.
