#1571 fixer upper progress

MT has been steadily working on the fixer upper. He has more time to commit to it right now because he chose to leave his employment. :( It happened about a week ago. I won't go into the details except to say that MT was the one who decided to leave. I had encouraged him to leave there in the summer when we got back from Hawaii, but he didn't mind the work itself, it was management that he had a problem with. Anyway...he is spending a lot more time at the fixer upper during the week which is nice because he is hanging out at home on the weekend. The job search will commence with vigor after the holidays, I'm sure.

Let's look at what he has done!

The biggest change is that he has tiled the kitchen. He used great big tiles and I think it's looks nice.

As you can see in the photo above, he had put in the wood floor in the dining area. I like how bright that room is with the two windows. It might be my favorite room.

I wanted to include this photo because I like the lights in the ceiling. This is a view from the kitchen into the dining room.

The photo above is the tile floor in the laundry closet. It's kind of a strange placement because it is in the laundry room. On the other side of the laundry closet is the new master bathroom, so the plumbing is shared. I guess a positive is that you could use your table as a place to fold your clothes. Having a working laundry closet is a good thing, no matter where it is I suppose. And the floor is really nice :)

This photo is the hallway going from the living room to the bathroom, the master bedroom and bedroom number two. I am taking the photo from the doorway of bedroom number two. MT was telling me that even though the hallway is short, it was tricky because there are four doorways to deal with. The door at the far end goes into the master bedroom. On the right is the door to the bathroom. Then there's the doorway I'm standing in, the opening to the living room and finally the linen closet on the left. There's all that trim to work with and the doors and it's a small space.

The floors looks dusty because he is still working and sawing stuff in the house (it's really cold here now, so he doesn't have the saws set up outside.) Of course we will have everything cleaned and polished up before it's time to sell.

MT's plan is to have the majority of the house done and then tackle the master bedroom and master bath. He also is going to put on a new front door and a new back door. Actually, he is going to move the back door to the front because it's still in good shape and is a nice door and buy a new back door because he is changing the size of the back door opening.

It's coming along. It really does look so much nicer than when we bought it. I can't wait to see what he does with the master bedroom and the new master bath. One thing at a time, though.
