First thing impression of New Orleans: I like it. A lot! A quick overview of our day so far:
Up super early (4:30am) for our 7am flight
Sleeping on the plane
Walking into the stunning lobby of the Hotel Monteleone which is all decorated for Christmas
Late lunch at Napoleon House complete with typical New Orleans fare: jambalaya for me, a muffuletta sandwich for Lizzie and a NOLA cocktail - a Pimms Cup. Delicious. I had one to go
Strolling down to Jackson Square in time to watch the lighting of the Christmas tree, complete with a fleur de lis on top
Soon: ghost tour of the French Quarter, beignets from Cafe du Monde, a nightcap at the Carousel Bar
Day 1 is all good!
